Since joining Plaza Jewish Community Chapel in 2002, Stephanie Garry has served in numerous leadership roles.
She became Executive Vice President in 2025, following 3 years as EVP of Communal Partnerships,
6 years as CAO and twelve years as Director of Community Relations. Throughout her tenure, Stephanie has been a driving force
behind Plaza’s communal partnerships, strategic growth, and national leadership in end-of-life education and compassionate care.
Originally from the Midwest, Stephanie has long been active in Jewish communal life— even during her 25-year career as a working actor,
during which she appeared in more than 1,500 commercials. She served as President of Temple Shaaray Tefila in Northern Westchester from 1995–1997
and has remained an engaged member ever since. She is also a member of Congregation Rodeph Sholom, where she participates in the Caring Committee.
Stephanie’s leadership extends across the Jewish community. She has served on the North American Board of the Union for Reform Judaism
and the Commission on Social Action for twelve years, including two on its Oversight Committee; as Community Outreach co-chair for the Westchester Chapter of AJC;
and on the North American Advisory Board and Executive Committee of the World Union for Progressive Judaism. She has also served on the lay advisory board of
The New York Board of Rabbis, the SYNERGY Coordinating Council of UJA-Federation, the advisory board of ImmerseNYC, and the national board of the Bnai Zion Foundation.
She is a past member of the board of the Hadassah Foundation and currently serves on the board of CAJAC (Community Alliance for Jewish-Affiliated Cemeteries).
Stephanie is a past President and current executive committee member of Elluminate (formerly Jewish Women’s Foundation of New York), is an associate member of NATA
(the National Association of Temple Administrators), and a member of the ReImagine 360 Advisory Council.
Stephanie is the host of Exit Strategy, a widely respected podcast exploring meaning,
legacy, grief, and end-of-life conversations. The podcast received a 2023 Communicator Award of Distinction.
Her writing has been published in eJewish Philanthropy and The Times of Israel.
Stephanie has been married to Art Tatge for 46 years. They are the proud parents of son Zach Tatge and daughter-in-law Briana,
and delighted grandparents to their grandson, all of whom live in New York City.
